Fall 08 Hyundai sponsored project. These are photos of the modeling process from start to end. The project was headed by Larry Erickson(Transportation design Chair at CCS) and Joel Piaskowski (Design Director at Hyundai N America.) The word is that Joel is now resigning from his position effective this after this month. That really kinda sucks. Anyways, it was a fun semester, one more to go until unemployment.

This is the 1:5 scale model of the microcar package madness that I did over the summer in Tokyo, yes I know it looks goofy and strange, its Tall, it has a wheel and a half wheel base and 13 inch wheels... it has mopeds coming out the rear and backpacks that drops out from the humps in the back. Yes, it is a monster. A lexus blue mica white monster with a crazy face. One of the perks that you get for going to Tokyo is that you come back with all of its weirdness. Enjoy.

This was done .. too long ago. I think it was the early early 90s. or maybe even the 80s. I cant believe it found it. check out the insane perspective and crazy details of this four wheel steering madness. I named it the race car cacoon LX 205 MT for the year 2012. It had a top speed of 892 mph. It was my first marker rendering ever , and it took six hours to complete. I have no recollection of why I named it the way I did.. or why its top speed was 892 mph..

Okay another school year has begun.. This semester will be full of Korean craziness.. we are getting a Hyundai sponsored studio. I just came back from Tokyo a week ago, its hard to describe the things that goes on there, but if I had to say something, I would say that everyone should experience it at least once in their lifetime. It will change your mind about everything you know. here is the only photo i have from Tokyo, it shows a little bit of the project i did while i was in the land of the rising sun. the rest of the work will be shipped soon. Have a good year everyone, cant wait to see all your work over the summer..

i am currently in tokyo right now.. designing "cars" .. yea right .. i am struggling to get to work everyday.. i have never felt so lost in my whole entire life.. but its good, it is a humbling experience to work with these guys.. even the interns i work with are too fast and too creative for me (Mihai the photoshop master.. and Daniel.. well lets just say Daniel is a masters student .. and he is master at CRAZY SHIET! we have no idea what is going on in his head half the time.).. this sucks.. so i have resorted to sketching random things that i like.. to get away i guess.. I am missing the US.. But Tokyo is quite something else entirely.

After a long conversation with a close buddy of mine from school, I am glad to say that the new year is going to be good. firstly, I want to congratulate the three guys for getting instant internships with GM ( this is insane!) I cant believe that they got this good =) (just kidding) I cant wait to see their projects. I gotta say I am a bit sadden that I didnt get to do this internship with them. IT would have been fun, we would have all had money and spent it unwisely together. I dont even know where I will be next summer, but I am pretty sure it wont be in Michigan. I am just glad and so proud to be in the same class to these guys .. well Merry Christmas, and a good good new year, more nonstop nights and caffeine high days. Last night was quite an experience, I've never seen so many people with the same mindset in the same place at the same time. I met some of my "heroes" Talked to some CCS alumnies, some of these guys have been in the field forever!, they gave me some goood insight on where I should go. Our faculties were also there, Kuni Ito and Mark West, who came to BMW the day before to talk to my boss about CCS's relationship with designworks. (This is a GOOOD thing) I also met many famous west coast designers. (Patrick Faulwetter was one of them.. ) Met up with former classmates, Jason Brown gave me a whole new wave of enthusiasm, he's the guy that worked hard, ignored everything people say, and made it big time. Now he's in the west enjoying the warm weather and living the life. He gets paid more than both my parents put together, but he still complains =) I also met up with 2 of my GM buddies from Academy of the Art University, Paul Kim and Nan Yu knows how to have a good time! I cant wait to see both of them in the industry soon, they will surely finish before me and get a head start. They bought their whole class down with them, and from what I hear, they are some serious talents (watch out CCS and ACCD) After all this fun, I am back to work this morning. One thing that differs now is my view on west coast design companies ( as one CCS alumni puts it, " Gm was like a cage where you hone your skills until you are good enough to escape to the west coast, where designers belong.")(the quote was something like that, I was a bit tipsy to fully quote him) this is very true in many instances, But the fact that he went through both east and west coast circles made it all the more credible. It was an overall awsome experience! back to thinkching(sketching and thinking made one work) haha

Some initial sketches of what hopefully will be a bad ass leman's car. Up until now, when I actually put pen on tablet, I didnt realize how hard it would be to "design" a race car. I have proven to myself, its dammmn hard! so props to engineers for bad ass looking race cars! The next few days, I will also try to replicate this feat, though I highly doubt I will succeed.

Obviously, I am not doing too much since I am writing this blog. I just thought maybe it was a good idea to start posting my stuff up on something like this to get some honest feedback. I have been an intern out here in california since the fall semester back in august, it has been a great experience as far as design learning is concerned. Over the summer, I interned at GM design center in Warren, MI. I must say that GM has a much bigger facility. Thats all I am going to say about that. I will try to post as many sketches up as possible, please if you are looking at this, feel completely free to mock my sketches to the fullest extent. (if you are in the junior transportation design classes at CCS, Tyler, Sam, Fil,Evan,Ian ect.ect.. leave me a note and send me some sketches, ill post it up and we can get some good feedback, maybe.) anyways here comes the sketches.
